Melrose Swap Day, starts at 8am – 12pm*. Please do not arrive any earlier, volunteers need time to set up. *Donation drop off ENDS PROMPTLY at 11am.
(Rain Date: Sept. 20)
LOCATION: Melrose High School parking lot, enter on Melrose Street and follow traffic flow to drop-off area.
EVERYTHING IS FREE! You do not have to bring something to take something! Or take something if dropping off. Swap-Day-Flyer.pdf
To keep this increasingly popular event running smoothly, we need more day-of volunteers. Make it part of your swap tradition to get in the trenches with the veteran swap crew for a couple of hours!
Swap volunteers are also welcome (and encouraged!) to take items. Helping to organize one of the sections (clothing, kids, etc.) gives you first dibs on incoming items to that area!
What volunteers will do: set up the event, move items from the drop-off area to tables, organize items on tables, and clean up after the swap closes. The swap is like a fun, busy pop-up store with constantly changing inventory.
In the sign-up form, you can select a specific job or a general “swap staff” shift. When signing up to volunteer, please select each time slot and activity you’re interested in. Shorter and longer shifts are available, and pitching in for multiple time slots (like a late morning shift plus cleanup) is greatly appreciated.
Come for a couple of hours or stay for the whole event! Online sign-up is available now!
Thank you~

SWAP like a pro!
Sort: Group “gives” by category. Damaged textiles go to white bins at schools. Unusable rigid plastic and metal go to City collections.
Write: Label your treasures to avoid confusion. Note need-to-know info for swappers (e.g., missing puzzle pieces, parts included with an item).
Attach: Use elastics, tape, bags, and string to keep loose parts and pieces together (e.g., rubber bands around baby shoes).
Pack: Bag and box like items together for quick intake at the check-in tables.
